Founder & Lead Researcher
Phoebe Lee
Building bridges between materials science, sustainability, and the communities they shape.
Her Story
Phoebe Lee is a high school student at the Harker School and an aspiring public policy advocate, scientific researcher, and community organizer who is passionate about exploring the intersection of materials science and engineering, sustainability, and anthropology. She is fascinated by how innovations in materials science can help shape not only our environment, but also our society, culture, and economy.
Phoebe works to build a bridge between scientific innovations and everyday social issues, whether it be sustainability, education disparity, or Women in STEM. Through her initiatives in research projects that help boost the efficacy of clean, efficient energy or spreading awareness of materials science and green chemistry through education, Phoebe believes that our everyday actions, coupled with technological progress, can have a significant impact on society.
Through her nonprofit organization, Phoebe seeks to explore how materials have shaped the course of human civilization — through our cultural identity, behavior, and economies, from our environmental practices to our technological innovations. She loves working with her team to organize school campaigns to drive climate change solutions, create educational videos, and host workshops that teach others, especially aspiring Women in STEM, about the role engineering plays within a culture.
She hopes to empower other young advocates to use the intersection of science and anthropology to drive powerful, real-world change for a more sustainable future. In her free time, Phoebe enjoys drawing, writing short stories, and gardening.
